Players must have a signed medical form available on the tryout page. DO ALL GIRLS TRYING OUT MAKE A TEAM? About 10 players will make a team, and there may be multiple teams at one level. There will be an option in the paperwork at registration to also be considered for a Junior Regional team if you are trying out for the Junior Olympic team. If you check the box to be considered for both programs, the staff will evaluate you in both programs. After tryouts, the staff will notify you on which team you have been chosen for. IF YOU DO NOT MAKE A TEAM, DOES YOUR MONEY GET REFUNDED? In our region of USA Volleyball, players must sign up online and pay a $38 registration fee to the region. This fee has been put in place by the Iowa Region. If you make a team, the money is applied to your club dues. If you do not make a team, USA Volleyball will refund $18 of your $38. The $15 fee to React Volleyball is to cover coaches cost and court rental for tryout day and cannot be refunded. WHAT IF I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO REGISTER ONLINE, CAN I COME TO TRYOUTS? Yes. HOW DOES REACT DETERMINE PLAYING TIME? We will keep the number of players on our teams lower in order to increase chances of seeing a good amount of playing time, although we cannot guarantee every player will see the same amount of playing time. Typically, we look for these positions for each team (a total of 10 players):
DOES YOUR TRAVEL TEAM PRACTICE 2 OR 3 NIGHTS A WEEK? On weeks with tournaments, the team practices twice. On weeks with no tournament scheduled, we practice 3 times. WHAT DAYS/TIME DOES EACH TEAM PRACTICE? Team schedules are put together before the beginning of each month after school sport schedules are evaluated. Practices are catered to meet the needs of each team/coach. We also schedule teams on different courts at the same time to increase scrimmage opportunities. WHAT TYPES OF TOURNAMENTS/HOW MANY TOURNAMENTS DO YOUR REGIONAL AND TRAVEL TEAMS ENTER? Both of our teams will enter into a variety of Great Lakes, Iowa, and Badger Region tournaments. We think that this helps our players become better by offering a wide variety of experience. Besides some of the qualifiers for the travel program, the tournaments are within driving distance. we attend about 2 tournaments per month. WHAT QUALIFIERS DO YOUR TRAVEL TEAMS GO TO? Although dates are not set in stone, we have an idea of what qualifiers we will go to. We will announce tournament schedule at registration night - we will keep as many tournaments drivable as possible. A more exact schedule will be determined in October. WHEN WILL I KNOW WHO WILL BE COACHING MY TEAM? Coaches are assigned to teams after tryouts. Please visit our staff page to learn more about our coaches. IF I PLAY ANOTHER SPORT, WHAT DATES DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO IN THE TRAVEL PROGRAM? The qualifying dates will be 3 weekends in March and April. Winter sport athletes should not have a conflict with these dates. Spring sport athletes will have to clear these dates with their coach if they wish to play in the travel program. IF I PLAY ANOTHER SPORT, WHAT DATES DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO IN THE REGIONAL PROGRAM? Most of the regional tournament dates are one day events that usually do not conflict with another sport. Should the school sport conflict, players are free to chose their school sport first. |
